13th International Symposium of Information Science
Information Science between Virtual Infrastructure and Material Lifeworlds
When
19 – 22 Marzo 2013
Where
Potsdam, Germany
Description
ISI stands for International Symposium of Information Science and is the central platform of library and information science (LIS) research in the German-speaking region. This bi-annual conference series is organized by the Higher Education Association for Information Science and hosted by different universities in Europe.
The 13th International Symposium of Information Science (ISI) will be held against a background of accelerated change processes in both academic and everyday lifeworlds. In view of these developments, and following the shift toward “Information Seeking and Retrieval in Context” discussed at the last conference, the information sciences have sought to integrate further paradigms and academic approaches, for example incorporating action and cognitive science in the so-called practice turn. The biennial conference this time seeks to explore the bridging between traditional computer science topics and new approaches from interface design, activity theory and cognitive science. Contributions to this conference may be categorized as follows:
Information science: New definitions / How necessary is Information Science?; Metadata vs. Index / Information Retrieval; Information Science vs. Web Science
Virtual Infrastructure: Information Analytics; Information Engineering; VRE (Virtual Research Environments); Digital Libraries
Material Lifeworlds: Information CompetenceInformation Didactics / Media Didactics; Practice Turn in Information Science; I-Commerce / Digital Commerce
The 13th International Symposium of Information Science will be held from March 19th to 22th, 2013 at the Fachhochschule Potsdam / University of Applied Sciences.
