Government Libraries Section

Government libraries form a Section of their own within IFLA, belonging to Division I: Library Types. The Section is aimed at the community of libraries which are part of and work for a body with a governing task and which have, in any way, a political responsibility or connection. The Section encourages the growth and development of government libraries and assists in their cooperation.

Call for Panelists: Government Libraries as Voices for Open Government

Open government is the core issue for the session we are organising for the next IFLA World Library and Information Congress - WLIC 2013. We invite proposals for roundtable discussion topics for a two-hour programme. The deadline for submissions is March 29, 2013.

Guidelines for Government Libraries translated into Arabic

As we did with other languages, our Guidelines for Libraries of Government Departments have been translated into Arabic. This time, Miss Maria El Kady was in charge of the translation, with the coordination of Fatima Alloul, Corresponding Member of the IFLA Government Libraries Section.

Executing GL Section Action Plan and Planning of Singapore Session

We are glad to inform that Goverment Libraries (GL) Section’s Action Plan 2012-2013 has already been published. The current action plan is intended to give consistency and direction to our actions in behalf of government libraries worldwide. Moreover, the articulation of the goals with the current IFLA Key Initiatives has also been remarked.
