High honour bestowed upon IFLA Secretary General Gerald Leitner

On 17 January 2017, IFLA Secretary General Gerald Leitner was awarded the Ehrenkreuz für Wissenschaft und Kunst (Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art) from the President of Austria.
During the ceremony, former Minister of Culture Josef Ostermayer commented: “Gerald Leitner is a painstaking worker, an excellent strategist and a mastermind of marketing for the cause of libraries.”
In his acceptance speech Gerald Leitner said: “This is a decoration for all libraries—and one that they deserve.”
