I think that IFLA should reinforce the professional activities that have been promoted because they are an expression of our professional interest and because they are able to give us identity as discipline and as profession. But also, it seems to me, it should promote new, intelligent and creative activities, so that the librarians find in IFLA an strong and renewed association with deep roots in the past but with the sight in the present and the future. IFLA should constantly reaffirm itself like the international association leader who joins those who have the social responsibility to conserve, to organize and to disseminate the information for the best development of the humanity.

IFLA must continue working and reinforcing particularly those activities that are principles and values for the profession, and for the libraries, like freedom to access to information, copyright issues, the fight against censorship, freedom of expression among others.

IFLA should encourage the incorporation of distinguish librarians from the developing countries to the professional standing committees, even if they participate like correspondent members. The inclusion of professionals of other geographical areas will help IFLA to become the international organization leader that wishes to be.

I propose that IFLA gives special attention to the minorities anywhere in the world, and, outstandingly to those that do not receive the benefits of the libraries, as it is the case of Indians and ethnic minorities, for which there will be to design plans and programs to short, medium and long term. We should not forget that by their nature, IFLA must be the force that guides the activities of the librarians of the orb as far as the provision and promotion of library and information services, and as far as the values of the librarianship, the human rights and everything that it is related to the world of the information.
