IFLA Corporate Partners

Introduction

Established in 1927, IFLA was one of the first non-profit making, non-governmental organizations to further the cause of librarianship. Its primary function is to encourage, sponsor and promote research and development in all areas of library activity, and to share its findings with the library community as a whole for the greater good of librarianship.

Since IFLA's purpose is to promote international cooperation for the development of library and information services, IFLA pays close attention to the promotion and encouragement of regular personal contact between its members.

IFLA has currently more than 1700 members in over 150 countries of which the majority are national and university libraries, bibliographical and research institutions and library associations.

Upon joining IFLA, new members are entitled to register with a number of our different professional groups. In all, IFLA has 45 Sections of professional Activities. Each one specializes in a different aspect of librarianship ranging from Information Technology and Children's Libraries to Rare Books and Management and Marketing.

Each year IFLA holds the World Library and Information Congress attended by upwards of 4000 library and information professionals. In August 2007 IFLA will hold its 73rd General Conference and Exhibition in Durban, South Africa.

IFLA Corporate Partners receive a number of special privileges should they decide to promote their products and services at the Exhibition site during the Congress.

The Corporate Partner Programme is especially designed for companies to convey information about products and services and attain exposure to our membership (and certainly a large number of non-members as well). The Corporate Partner Programme has proven a great success and for a bit more than the fee for Institutional Membership you would receive the membership materials and many more substantial benefits.

In case you feel that the specific benefits that we have gathered under the different headings do not correspond to your company's exact needs, you may choose what services you wish to have from the Fact Sheet. In addition, if you are interested in benefits not listed, please approach us here at IFLA HQ and we will be more than willing to see if we can meet your wishes. The services have been put together to form an attractive marketing package; your company should get value for money and hopefully new significant customers.

Categories of Corporate Partnership

There are 3 categories of Corporate Partnership, each given different benefits. Please have a look at the Fact Sheet, to see the differences between the categories. Standard for each of the Corporate Partner categories is the receipt of all membership materials including the IFLA Directory, listing the names and addresses of all IFLA Members and Officers, and IFLA Journal, IFLA's quarterly magazine, featuring articles from library and information science professionals of international standing, and IFLA News and reports. Included is also IFLA's Annual Report with the annual reports from the IFLA Sections and summaries of IFLA's activities. In addition, Corporate Partners are given the opportunity to purchase IFLA/Saur Publications for an attractive discount.

We would, of course, be happy to welcome you as IFLA Sponsor. We would like to invite you to visit the Corporate Partner Page at IFLA's Web site. There you can find a list with all the IFLA Corporate Partners.
