    COPEARMS Co-ordinating Partner
    Bureau van Dijk consists of 14 companies in Europe, USA and Japan. Its principal activities are:
    consultancy on organisation, information and documentation systems and business; strategy; computer services; electronic publishing (CD-ROM).

    Bureau van Dijk has implemented the business case analysis of the different projects assisted by COPEARMS. Such business case analysis consists of mapping the flows of information,usages and payment between the agents involved by the project's activities, as well as analysing all the requirements for a good working of the systems concerned. Bureau van Dijk has updated and upgraded the reference business model for Electronic Rights Management Systems (ERMS). Bureau van Dijk offers its expertise in business case analysis for ERMS under commercial conditions.

CISAC, France

    CISAC is an international network of organisations which collect and distribute royalties on behalf of creators and owners of musical composition and other creative works. It represnets creators in more than 90 nations with a total royalty flow of more than $5 billion annually. CISAC is responsible for the Common Information System (CIS)[Adobe Acrobat PDF format 1,170 KB], which aims accurately and uniquely to identify all creations to give rights holders greater control over their property and better protection of their rights.

CRID, Belgium
    Centre de recherches informatique et droit (University of Namur) CRID is a research centre specialising in law and new technologies in information and communication technologies from legal, technical and socio-economic perspectives. In recent years, CRID has carried out several important surveys about the legal aspects of new technologies for the Belgian Government and for the European Commission.

    CRID was the originator of the ESPRIT project, E-CLIP (Electronic Commerce Legal Issues Platform) which has already started. This project gathers five research centres highly specialised in information and technology law in order to provide legal support to ESPRIT or other EC-funded projects on any issue of law linked to electronic commerce and to enhance awareness of the legal constraints of electronic commerce (website : http://www.jura.uni-muenster.de/eclip).

    Responsible for legal requirements in the COPEARMS project, CRID's role is to assess the legal constraints to be taken into account when considering the implementation of an ERMS. CRID has therefore given assistance to the vertical projects.

EURITIS, France
    A French company specialising in IT systems, information retrieval systems, network security using smart card technologies, electronic protection of intellectual property rights, electronic commerce applications.

    Within Copearms, Euritis demonstrates concrete implementation of the copearms ERMS Reference Model. Euritis provides ERMS related technical assistance and technology transfer to vertical projects and to the information industry. Euritis maintains liaison with industry movers and consortia that can influence consensus building on ERMS interoperability and the acceptance of ERMS technologies. Euritis uses the CopySmart ERMS for exploiting Copearms experience and results.

IFLA (UK)
    The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions.
    Through its global network of information professionals, IFLA supports and coordinates research and studies, and serves as a body through which librarianship can be repreented in matters of international interest.

    Within COPEARMS, IFLA's role is promotion of the interoperable ERMS concept. The main channels for this are the organisation of Special Interest Group meetings throughout Europe; establishment and maintenance of the web site; and participation at international conferences.

Level-7 (UK)

    The parent company of Level-7, ECsoft Group plc (NASDAQ:ECSGY), is an independent European IT services company specializing in the practical application of advanced technology. Level-7 is a participant in several European Commission activites, specialising in open distributed systems and international standards.

    Within COPEARMS, Level-7's role involves pre-standardisation activities supporting specifications for interoperability between ERMS components. Level-7 have demonstrated the benefits of using EDI and CORBA to achieve interoperability and have co-authored the CITED ERMS Reference Model.
