"Towards a Solid Organization: Infrastructure and Awareness" The challenge of an effective cooperation

Day 1 Blue Shield - The Organization

Goal: the national committees endorse the fundamental principals for a strengthened international organization of Blue Shield.

Target group: members and directors of the national committees (NC's) and heritage umbrella organizations and ICBS (International Committee of the Blue Shield).

Chair for the day: Els Jacobs, Secretary-General of the Dutch National UNESCO Committee

Role of ICBS and its national committees.

Interaction between ICBS-Paris and national ICBS-committees:

(awareness raising, disaster response, fundraising, network of experts)

Proposal to benefit from the possible support of the municipality of The Hague . The text of this proposal will be distributed to the participants prior to the conference.

14.45 - 15.15 Tea (while the chair and content manager draw up a list of themes and questions)

15.15 - 16.30 The possibilities of the Association- model

The chair enumerates the themes and questions that have been brought up in the oral and written reactions to Blue Shield the Netherlands ' proposal.

Techniques used: interviews and case studies.

Probable themes: coordination of requests for help, money (fund-raising), international cooperation, collaboration between the national committees, mobilizing support, building / maintaining networks

16.30 - 17.00 Enumerate points of interest for the text of a provisional resolution by the joint Blue Shield committees on the international infrastructure of the Blue Shield organization

Together with those present, the chair closes the meeting by summarizing the points discussed.

19.00 - 22.00 Dinner / reception combined with a film on the prevention and fighting of fire in archives and libraries (filmed for The Hague 's pilot project on calamity)


Day 2 Blue Shield - In Practice

Target group: Members and directors of national committees and heritage umbrella organizations and ICBS (International Committee of the Blue Shield), volunteer professionals from the heritage sector, representatives of related relief organizations.

Chair for the day: Yola de Lusenet, Executive Secretary of the European Commission on Preservation and Access (ECPA).
