Each text is accompanied by a detailled hypertext summary
on the left of the screen. The blue arrows indicate the presence of a
second level : by clicking on the
arrow you can scroll through the summary ; by clicking on the
arrow you can minimise it. By clicking on one of the blue titles you can
display the contents of that heading.
The icon on the title bar changes according to whether it refers to :

Hypertext links in the text are blue like those in the summary.
Words in red are defined in the glossary. Place the mouse pointer over the word to see its definition appear in a bubble. The bubble disappears as soon as the mouse pointer is moved to another area.
The images selected to illustrate the text may be enlarged. Click on
one of the thumbnail images. Use the
and
buttons to move back to the preceding image or forward to the following
one, and the
button
to return to the text.
N.B. : In order to print the texts in PDF format, you need Adobe Acrobat Reader 4, which you can install from the CD-ROM (see "installation instructions" in the booklet).
In this section, you can look at the illustrations by searching with keywords. Click on one or several terms and validate your request whenever you want to look at the images with their notices.
At any time you may activate a context-sensitive help by clicking on
the
button.
N.B. : The search engine for the illustrations requires Macromedia ShockwaveTM Player which you can install from the CD-ROM (see "installation instructions" in the booklet).
The navigation bar at the bottom of the screen allows you to :
