Meetings
The Chairman and the Secretary met once in between the conferences in Copenhagen in March on the occasion of a coordination group meeting of the Section’s project.
During the Copenhagen conference the Standing Committee gathered twice. The first meeting was held on Saturday, 30 August 1997 and the second meeting on Thursday, 4 September.
Both meetings were well attended, i.e. 20 respectively 25 persons including guests.
The minutes will be published in the Section’s "Newsletter" (March 1998) and on the IFLANET and so will be the new Medium-Term Programme which was the most important point discussed.
Projects
Members of the Section continue to work in its project on "Document Delivery and Interlending in Developing Countries". The project was presented in the form of a poster session during the Copenhagen conference with representatives from Ghana, our African project partners, present.
Ruth Kondrup (Aarhus University Library, Denmark) gave a state of the art report of the Danish part of the project during the second SC-meeting of the Section and so did Kristine Abelsnes for the Norwegian project. A draft version of Ruth’s report (June 1997) is available on the IFLANET.
On 31 August representatives of both projects including the African partners met again to hear reports about the state of affairs and to discuss future plans. The minutes of this meeting and a report on the training programme plus an evolution are available from Ruth Kondrup (Email: rk@Kumsb.dk).
A description of the second project of the Section "Expediting the Implementation of the ISO ILL Protocol" is available on the IFLANET. Due to the lack of funding the project is a bit delayed. Nevertheless a model presentation was successfully tested during the Copenhagen conference during the session on "The ILL Protocol Standard: Interlibrary Loan in an Open Networked Environment". The project will continue, and a workshop with three vendors is planned for the Bangkok conference. More information is available from Mary E. Jackson (Email: Mary@cni-org).

Conference Programme
During the Copenhagen Conference the Section held three sessions:
Relationships with Other Bodies
The section continues to cooperate closely with the Office for International Lending and the UAP Core Programme. The programme Director, Graham P. Cornish, was actively involved in the planning of the Section’s MTP 1998-2001.
The Section has also close links with the other Sections of Division V and the Section on Information Technology as well as the UDT and ALP-Core Programmes.
Other events
The Section was a co-sponsor of the 5th International ILDS Conference which took place in Aarhus, Denmark, from 24-29 August 1997, and was considered a great success both professionally and socially. The complete proceedings (see also under Publications) will be published by the IFLA Office for UAP and will be available in a few weeks.
