Annual Report 1994-1995

Ms Hazel M. Woodward (Academic Services, Pilkington Library, Loughbourough University, Loughborough, Leics. LE11 3TU, UK (fax: +(44-1509) 234806; e-mail: h.m.woodward@lut.ac.uk)) was elected Chair of the Section on Serial Publications succeeding Ms Suzanne Santiago (France). Ms Ruth C. Carter (Technical Services, University of Pittsburgh Libraries, 271 Hillman Library, Pittsburgh, PA 15260, USA (fax: +(1-412) 6487887; e-mail: rcc.13@vms.cis.pitt.edu)) was elected Secretary succeeding Hazel Woodward.

The annual report and minutes of meetings were not received.

Standing Committee and Section Membership

There are 10 persons from six countries on the Standing Committee. Section registration stands at 67.

Istanbul Meetings

The Section co-sponsored an open session with the Section on Information Technology with the theme, "Electronic Publishing: Technology and Use", and co-sponsored the session organized by the Division of Collections and Services on "Providing Access to Collections and Services in a Time of Change". The Section contributed the following paper:

Electronic Journals: Delivery, Use and Access

Abstract:
A brief history of electronic journals is given, and a number of different models for the delivery of electronic journals that are currently being debated are described. For the two most likely models - commercial parallel publication and free Internet journals - issues of library access are discussed.
