Best Practice Awards
2006

Following on from the very successful Ulverscroft/IFLA Libraries for the Blind Best Practice Awards in 2004, the Ulverscroft Foundation has decided to make a further 20,000 GB Pounds available to renew the Awards in 2006. Based upon operating the scheme in 2004 and 2005.

The Awards are to support library and information professionals who provide services for the visually impaired.

Individual awards

Application form and scope for the 2006 Awards in all IFLA languages:

English | French | German | Spanish | Russian

An opportunity for an individual involved in library service delivery for visually impaired people to work for a short period with another library

The duration is likely to be in the region of two weeks to two months, depending on destination.

It is not intended to fund a study tour.

Value

Up to £5,000, to cover travel, accommodation and expenses.

Purpose
  • Share best practice between two organisations
  • Improve services at both organisations
  • Create or strengthen a mutually beneficial relationship between two organisations
  • Encourage individual self-development

Reporting

The successful applicant will be expected to report on the experience, including input from his/her employer and the host organisation.

Judging criteria
  • Degree of relevance to applicant's organisation
  • Benefits to the individual and organisations concerned
  • Sustainability of relationship between the two organisations
  • Transferability of experience to other libraries
