Public Libraries and Multilingual Collections
An IFLA Satellite meeting was held after the 69th IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Berlin, 2003. The meeting was organised by the Section on Library Services to Multicultural Populations; hosted by the NBLC, Netherlands Public Library Association and the Utrecht Public Library.
70 participants from all over the world attended the conference. The conference focused on the acquisition of multilingual collections in public libraries and the marketing of library services to multicultural populations. It enabled participants to exchange practical information about the importation, cataloguing and access of multilingual books and media. Discussions took place on strategies of marketing library services to the target population.
