Interim Meeting, Paris, France, November 1996 (6 members).
The Interim Meeting was an opportunity for members not attending the annual Conference to be informed and to work in the group. The 1996 Meeting was mainly devoted to work on the Medium Term Programme and to prepare the Copenhagen Conference.
Executive Committee, Copenhagen, August-September 1997 (11 members)
3 major items have been discussed:
- The Medium Term Programme has been finalised
- Membership
According to the decision in Beijing to make every effort toward enlarging membership, so that we may work more and better and become a section, an extensive mailing was sent to persons having declared an interest in audiovisual and multimedia has been made, explaining the work and structure of the RT, and enquiring about their precise interest and involvements. Many answers have been examined, and candidatures presented in Copenhagen. 11 new members have been welcomed.
This enlargement results from of the large mailing, the definition of the work of the RT and the growing interest in multimedia, documents and services.
During the Copenhagen Conference, the Professional Board expressed a new guideline: in next years, the Rount Table would be no more an IFLA structure, but Sections and Discussion groups. This position of the Professional Board has given a new interest to the question of transforming AV MM RT into a section, already discussed in previous years. Members present in Copenhagen have expressed contrasting opinions, and the question will be discussed with all the members, and during the Amsterdam Conference.
The two current projects are:
Audiovisual management in libraries: a selected bilbiography
Leader: Isabelle Giannattasio
A selected list has been set for french publications. But not other members have worked for other countries, and the question of end this project was discussed in Copenhagen. Nevertheless, members answered to go on 1998, using new IFLANET facilities.
Guidelines for Audiovisual and Multimedia Librarians
Leader: Bibbi Andersson
The project is an up-dating of Guidelines for Audiovisual Librarians, published in 1987, and its enlargement to multimedia.
Bibbi Andersson has initiated the work and must be able to go on in 1998.

(Terry Kuny), Sound collections (Dietrich Schüller), Film collections (Dan Nissen), Audiovisual and Multimedia Documents: World Cultural Heritage and International Programmes (Dietrich Schüller).
Attendance estimated: 50-70.
AV MM RT organized the annual meeting of NGO Round Table on AV records in Paris (February, 28 - March 1). Such a meeting is always a very rich opportunity to exchange information and to set up cooperation with other bodies in charge of heritage collections and legal deposit: IASA, FIAT, FIAF, ICA, and UNESCO.
IFLA, FIAF and FIAT have planned to organize a Joint Technical Committee in 1999.
In the NGO context, Catherine Pinion has completed a first Report on Audiovisual Archives and Deposit agreements, funded by UNESCO.
