Work in Progress

  • Preparing programmes for future open meetings and workshops at IFLA Conferences which will reflect the needs and interests of the host country and its surrounding region
  • Guidelines for newspaper microfilming; Supplement on Microfilming for Digitisation and Optical Character Recognition
  • Survey of newspaper collection policies and procedures as an aid to co-operative collection development and preservation; eliciting information and up[dating the survey on the IFLANET
  • Revisions of international Guidelines for the Cataloguing of Newspapers
  • Developing policy statement on retention of newspaper after microfilming
  • Organising occasional Workshops on Newspapers with regard to the themes: Access, Preservation, Digitisation

Nominations for membership of the IFLA Newspapers Section, endorsed by an IFLA member institution, are welcomed. Corresponding membership status may be approved in suitable cases.
