Strategic Plan 2004-2005
Mission
The Section promotes the collection, research, publication and dissemination of information on the status of women in librarianship. To this end, it works together with those groups within IFLA which interests include professional education and advancement within the profession.
Another concern of the Section is to identify discrimination in all forms and disparities in resources, programmes and opportunities relating to women in librarianship. This concern involves working on women's professional education, literacy, life-long learning and, especially, access to information relevant to women.

5.3 Publish a Newsletter twice a year both on paper and in electronic format. Continue working to include all WIS documents in IFLANET.

5.4 Translate WIS documents into all IFLA official languages and other languages as necessary. Procure simultaneous interpretation for programs and meetings. Publish a collection of invited articles/paperson the topic of women's issues.

5.5 Publish a collection of invited papers on the topic of women's issues as a monograph.

7.2 Plan for WLIC 2004 Buenos Aires a program, a poster session and an event outside IFLA. The program will take into consideration IFLA President Kay Raseroka's program and Include a paper on indigenous people. The planning process involves cooperation with Argentine women's associations and such IFLA groups as Latin America and the Caribbean Section and the Mobile Libraries Section.

7.3 Plan a program and a Satellite Meeting for WLIC 2005 Oslo. The suggested theme for the Satellite Meeting is "Women and World Peace."

7.4 Enhance communication with professionals both within IFLA and in library associations, especially in developing countries.
