Announcing: World Directory of Map Collections
The fourth edition of the World Directory of Map Collections was completed in June 2000 updating the previous edition issued in 1993. For each map collection, in addition to name, address, contacts and reference services, are given staff and area figures, size and main characteristics of the collection as well as information on bibliographic control, lending and copying services, conservation and storage. This publication lists 714 institutions from 121 countries: national and regional libraries and archives, university and public libraries, geographical, geological and hydrographic institutes, surveys and museums. The directory is published by Saur and will soon be available.
