The Ulverscroft Foundation and the IFLA Libraries Serving Persons with Print Disabilities Section are pleased to announce that the Foundation has agreed to provide renewed sponsorship of 20,000 GP Pounds in 2009 to continue a best practice development programme which commenced in 2003. Since then individuals have been sponsored to visit libraries in other countries as follows:

LPD Session in Milan, 2009

We warmly invite you to attend the LPD Session at IFLA in Milan on
Thursday 27th August, 10.45-12.45. The theme of the session is:
"Using Technology to Give the Past a Future: The Journey from Braille to XML" -
the presentations aim to align with the overall theme for IFLA Milan
2009: “Libraries create futures: Building on cultural heritage” and
also to celebrate the 200th Anniversary in 2009 of the birth of Louis

Libraries serving persons with print disabilities section (LPD) name change

The name Libraries for the Blind Section may convey the message that the section is meant only for libraries for the blind that specialize in rendering services to blind persons exclusively. There are however various types of libraries, e.g. public libraries and tertiary libraries that are rendering services to print disabled persons as part of the total inclusive service mix.
