IFLA is seeking core trainers to deliver training and other activities as part of the Building Strong Library Associations (BSLA) programme.
The comprehensive BSLA programme offers a strategic and coordinated approach to capacity building and sustainability of library associations for the benefit of associations, libraries, and their communities. It allows for the delivery of a new training package aimed at developing library associations, and the continuing deployment of IFLA's existing workshops such as those on the IFLA Internet Manifesto, access to HIV/AIDS information through libraries, or transparency, good governance and freedom from corruption. The strength of the programme's model is that is allows for customization, and enables library associations to identify which IFLA training packages best suit their needs.

ALP (Action for Development through Libraries Programme)
IFLA is pleased to announce the Building Strong Library Associations (BSLA) programme, a new IFLA programme to be delivered under the Action for Development through Libraries programme (ALP). The programme is currently in development and will be launched in September 2010.

ALP (Action for Development through Libraries Programme)
The first pilot workshop for IFLA's Building Strong Library Associations programme was held in Gaborone, Botswana from October 12-16 2009. The purpose of the pilot workshop was to test the relevance of the content of the Building Strong Library Associations training package, assess the suitability of the training method, and to discuss the further development of the programme, including how it could be customised and rolled out in the Africa region.

ALP (Action for Development through Libraries Programme)
A successful pilot workshop for IFLA's Building Strong Library Associations programme was held in Singapore at the National Library from 9-13 November 2009. The workshop followed the first pilot, held in Gaborone, Botwsana, hosted at the University of Botswana from 12-16 October 2009. The workshop was hosted by IFLA Regional Office for Asia and Oceania and National Library Board Singapore (NLB). Regional manager, Tan Keat Fong, hosted the workshop and coordinated local arrangements, together with Petrina Ang Hui Min providing administrative support.
