The San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science is the founding partner of the Library 2.012 Worldwide Virtual Conference. The Library 2.012 Conference follows the groundbreaking global Library 2.011 Conference that took place this past November.

Out now: a new FAIFE Spotlight on Venezuela’s National library

A brand new FAIFE Spotlight has just been released. The Spotlight is titled "Venezuela's National Library as the Nucleus of a National Library System (IABNSB) in the 20th century and its gradual dismantling in the 21st century" and has been written by Anabel Torres, a poet, writer, translator and interpreter in development issues and Sub-Director of the National Library of Colombia 1983-198.

Nearly every library has an "Ask a Librarian" link on their website via which a library patron may ask any librarian a question via the web and receive a reply back via email or in a response posted to a website for other patrons to read. Now there is a similar service for librarians who are having difficulty in locating, identifying, creating, or comparing either responses, plans, or products and more.

The Researcher-Librarian Partnership is a new initiative of IFLA’s Library Theory and Research Section for 2010. Research skill and knowledge are the essential tool kit for ensuring that libraries and librarians continue to effectively and efficiently meet the evolving needs of the clients and communities they serve. The Researcher-Librarian Partnership is a mentoring Program that will provide the opportunity for new professionals to develop and refine their skill, knowledge and confidence in conducting research.
