As of June 2009, it has distributed over 4.9 million donated and discounted products to nonprofits and public libraries across the globe, freeing up more than US$1.4 billion dollars for other uses.

Trying out open source is getting easier

One of the difficulties of testing open source solutions is the range of linux flavours and the difficulties of setting up different test enviornments and switching between them.

With virtualisation reaching the desktop now, this process is much easier.

Scope

We want to maintain a forum for the implications of Web 2.0 for libraries, where the question of Library 2.0 and the ongoing development is watched and discussed in the next few years. It would be nice if there will be a lot of input from as many sections as possible.
