Ulverscroft/IFLA Best Practice Awards - 2011

The Ulverscroft Foundation and the IFLA Libraries Serving Persons with Print Disabilities Section are pleased to announce the outcome of the bids for funding from the 2011 programme. The Ulverscroft Foundation had made 10,000 Pounds GB available for awards to library workers to assist the development of library services for print disabled people worldwide and to foster cooperation between library services serving these persons.

The Ulverscroft Foundation and the IFLA Libraries Serving Persons with Print Disabilities Section are pleased to announce that the Foundation has agreed to provide renewed sponsorship of 10,000 GP Pounds in 2011 to continue a best practice development programme which commenced in 2003. Since then individuals have been sponsored to visit libraries

Award for Estonian language interfaces for technical devices for blind people

In Estonia, Mother Tongue Day has been celebrated on March 14 since 1999. One of its aims is to highlight and award outstanding actions in the field of the Estonian language. At this year’s ceremony, the Language in Action Award for 2010 went to a working group formed by the non-profit organization Jumalalaegas and the Estonian Library for the Blind.

Jodi Awards: spreading their wings in 2010

The Jodi Awards are for museums, galleries, libraries, archives and heritage venues which use digital technology to widen access to information, collections, learning and creativity for disabled people.

Nominations are now being sought for the Jodi Awards 2010 from museums, libraries, archives and heritage sites. Supported by MLA (Museums Libraries and Archives), the Jodi Awards are for best use of digital technology to widen access to information, collections, learning and creativity for disabled people.

Jodi Award for Digital Access Online

The Jodi Awards for accessible cultural websites and digital media are annually granted by the Jodi Mattes Trust in Great Britain. The Jodi Mattes Trust was established to promote equal access to, and equal enjoyment of, art and culture for disabled people through the use of digital media. Jodi Mattes (1973-2001) was a tireless champion of equal access to culture for disabled people.
