The IFLA Cataloguing Section (IFLA CATS) invites proposals for papers to be presented at the World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) in Helsinki, Finland, August 11-17-2012.

In the 2012 open session the Cataloguing Committee wants to examine how well our rules and standards support an information infrastructure that fits user needs.

The Cataloguing Section will hold a satellite meeting on RDA: Foundations, Changes, and Implementations before the IFLA Conference and General Meeting in Puerto Rico. Registrations for this event are now being accepted through the website.

It will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Friday, August 12, 2011. As you look at the website, please note that the number of attendees will be limited to 100 people due to the size of the venue.

Metadata Decisions for Digital Libraries is a survey undertaken in 2007 by Marcia Zeng (Kent State University), Jaesun Lee (National Library of Korea), and Allene Hayes (Library of Congress) to identify major issues and concerns in the metadata community that should be addressed by the IFLA Working Group on Guidelines for Digital Libraries. Functional Requirements: the FRBR Family of Models

The "FRBR family" consists of three conceptual models each covering an aspect of the data recorded in bibliographic and authority records.

The first model is Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR), published in 1998.

The second is Functional Requirements for Authority Data (FRAD), published in 2009.
