Instructions for libraries sending requests

Where possible, forms should be typed: otherwise use ball-point pen.
Ensure that all 4 copies are legible.
If you wish to assign a reference number to your requests, use
the box marked 'Request Ref. No' in the top right hand corner.
Fill in the bibliographic details of the required item, giving
all the information you have and quoting your source of reference in full.
If a loan, photocopy or microfilm is specifically required, mark
the appropriate box.

IFLA loan/photocopy request form

The IFLA Loan/photocopy request form is convenient, internationally recognised and simplifies making ILL requests when the supplying library does not have forms of their own. It does not have any monetary value and will not be accepted as payment by the supplying library. It should not be confused with the IFLA Voucher, a re-usable plastic voucher which is accepted as payment for interlibrary transactions, by participating libraries in the Voucher Scheme.

The problem

Where interlibrary loan requests cannot be satisfied immediately by the supplying library, a response is required in order to inform the requesting library of the reason for non-supply.
