A conference on the role on libraries in Europe and their current e-challenges. The Jubilee Conference on Friday the 11th of May aims to draw the attention of the European Union both to the risks and threats at stake for libraries and their patrons, and therefore also to the citizens of Europe with the current situation in the volatile market of ebooks in which libraries have very few rights.

Following the endorsement of IFLA's Statement on Open Access by the Governing Board, April 18th 2011—and the subsequent approval from the Governing Board during the WLIC in Puerto Rico August 2011 of a number of key initiatives—IFLA's Open Access Taskforce has been established.

Significant progress was made on exceptions and limitations for persons with print and other reading disabilities at the 22nd session of the WIPO Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR) in June.

IFLA welcomes the steps forward in this area and will continue to work with the World Blind Union (WBU) in support of an international legal instrument.
