Health and Biosciences Libraries Section

The Section of Health and Biosciences Libraries represents and acts as a forum for special libraries concerned with all aspects of information dissemination and services in relation to the health sciences and biological sciences. The Section's general aims include the promotion of cooperation between biological and health sciences libraries; the facilitating of the development and the application of new technology relevant to those libraries; the consideration of means for better provision for health care information to health care consumers; the promotion of cooperative activity between national and international library associations of biological and medical sciences libraries and the promotion of cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and other relevant international bodies.

Call for papers : Health and Bioscience Libraries - Satellite Meeting 2013

HBS Section Satellite Session 2013 The Standing Committee of the Health and Biosciences Section regret to announce that we have decided not to go ahead with the section’s satellite session this year. The reason we have decided not to go ahead with the meeting is that the response to the call for papers was very disappointing. We would not have nearly enough papers for a full meeting. We are also aware of people’s travel plans and realise that many members who usually attend IFLA will not be there this year. Economic factors are the primary reason given. We would like to thank those who did prepare abstracts for this session and to everyone who helped in preparing and distributing the call for papers. The section is planning to hold a satellite meeting at the 2014 conference.
