Chelemu discusses interlending and document supply in the context of a possible digital bibliographic network between the University of Zambia (Lusaka) and the Copperbelt University (Kitwe), citing experiences from the Australian bibliographic network as well as from GAELIC (Gauteng and Environs Library Consortium). The paper outlines the possibility of a consortium and explores requirements for document exchange, such as MARC formatting. The benefits of a common library management system are examined. End users, information technology and human resource expertise, are among the issues. Some objectives of a possible Zambian universities network are outlined, which include resource sharing and financial resources.
