Recommend harmonization of entities and a list of minimal practical proposals for bibliographic identity; understanding of variations in names for sharing of authority records; recommendations for closer harmony to facilitate shared authority information)
  • Corporate names: Claudia Fabian and Mauro Guerrini (Goal: To build understanding of the differences and similarities among existing codes. Recommend harmonization of entities and a list of minimal practical proposals for corporate identity; understanding of variations for sharing of authority records; recommendations for closer harmony to facilitate shared authority information)

3:45 – 5:15 p.m.  Continued review of areas comparing the codes with discussion after each: Dr. Barbara Tillett and respective working group leaders – Seriality issues. Impact of mode of issuance on cataloguing rules 

  • Gudrun Henze and Renate Gömpel (Goal: Agreement on standards and identification of where the rules do not agree with ISBD(CR) for what changes constitute a new work/expression to justify a new record; harmonization of practice Uniform titles and GMDs (possible uses of FRBR modes of expression))
  • Monika Münnich and Hans Popst (Goal: To build better understanding of the differences and similarities among existing codes; understand the need for various approaches to uniform titles (name/title and title as well as the various categories of uniform title, form headings, conventional titles, unique headings for serials etc.) recommend proposals for new approach to GMDs for collocation at the level of form of expression and/or physical format (as part of a uniform title heading?) etc.) Multipart structures 
  • Gunilla Jonsson (Goal : Optimize bibliographic sharing and fulfill the principle of identifiying all works ; understanding the need for various levels of bibliographic description (collection level (aggregator), individual work level, component level) and devices for accomodating those levels)

1:15 – 3:00 p.m.  Reports from each working group (15 minutes each to present recommendations)
3:00 – 3:15 p.m.  Coffee break
3:15 – 5:00 p.m.  Continue with reports from working groups (as needed) and discussion
7:00 – 9:00 p.m.  Conference dinner (Local style evening in the historical restaurant "Zur Sonne" sponsored by a generous donation from OCLC)
