August 14-15, 2007, CSIR International Convention Centre – Pretoria, South Africa

Goal

To increase the ability to share cataloguing information worldwide by promoting standards for the content of bibliographic and authority records used in library catalogues.

Objective for the 5th meeting

To examine cataloguing codes currently used in sub-Saharan African countries to compare their similarities and differences with the 1961 Paris Principles; to review and possibly approve the 2002-2006 draft Statement of International Cataloguing Principles, from the European, Latin American/Caribbean and African regional meetings of IME ICC; to see if cataloguing rules can be more similar; and perhaps to suggest proposals for an International Cataloguing Code.

This invitation only meeting is the fifth in a series of regional meetings of cataloguing experts and rule makers, planned by the IFLA Cataloguing Section. The fifth and final meeting for Africa is scheduled for 14-15 August 2007 in Pretoria, South Africa, before the IFLA Conference in Durban.
