The “Cuartas Jornadas Valencianas de Documentación” are organized by the Official College of Librarians and Documentalists of the Valencian Community (COBDCV), and it will serve to “analyze the possibilities of bringing the work from libraries and documentation units to the process of empowerment of citizenship. The fundamental task of libraries to facilitate equal access to information can go much further, overcome their own limits and deepen the transformation of information to make it a civic resource.”

IFLA will offer a keynote presentation on the topic: “Development and access to information (DA2I): transforming society through libraries”. This will be an opportunity to discuss how libraries, every day, all over the world, transform our society by providing universal and equal access to information, as well as the skills and confidence necessary to benefit from it.

The keynote will introduce the Development and Access to Information (DA2I) report, launched by IFLA in 2017 in collaboration with TASCHA, which demonstrates how significant access to information through libraries is key to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and how librarians are agents of change, providing opportunity and improving lives.
