Nomination and Election process

    Elections will take place in 2013 for new Standing Committee members for the IFLA Sections. Each Section should have between 10 and 20 Standing Committee members, who each serve for a term of four years and can be re-elected once to serve a total of eight consecutive years.

    The call for nominations has gone out in October 2012.

      Serving on IFLA Standing Committees

      The new Standing Committees will elect in their first meeting in August 2013 a new Chair and a new Secretary from among their members.The Chair and Secretary of the Section are called the "Officers" and have a term of office lasting two years, which can then be renewed once for a second consecutive term of two years providing the individual remains on the Standing Committee. At the end of either their first or second two-year term, the Officers can stand for election to become a Division Chair, representing the Division on the Professional Committee and Governing Board.
