DC-Library Interest Group Agenda

  1. Review of charge: see: http://www.oclc.org/oclc/research/projects/core/groups/libraries.htm What has been completed? What needs more work? What needs to be added?
  2. Application profiles: what would a general "library" application profile look like? (see Rachel Heery's paper as background: http://homes.ukoln.ac.uk/~lisrmh/app-prof.htm)
      Additional elements to DCES
      Additional qualifiers needed:
      Request as DC approved?
      Define as domain-specific?
      Changes to semantics in DCES 1.1: are there elements that
      need definitions refined for use by libraries?
      Required elements
      Data rules (e.g. lastname, firstname)
  3. Crosswalks: which are libraries using for what purposes? What are their problems? What sort of standardization is needed?
  4. DC-Agents: can the library community agree on a position for associating attributes of persons, corporate bodies with their names? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed approaches for consistency/interoperability with bibliographic data in libraries?
  5. Tools: What tools are people using for projects in libraries implementing DC?
  6. "Investigate how to provide URI transparency to library database resources": has any progress been made on this?
  7. Other business suggested by members.
