Ideas Store submissions

Launched this past August during IFLA WLIC 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, our first call for contributions to the Ideas Store has yielded a great and diverse set of ideas for actions that will help define the future direction of IFLA.  Thus far, over 8.500 ideas have been submitted from 160 countries around the world. Thank you and keep sharing your ideas!

Submissions were made in all seven IFLA languages, both online and in print. They clearly show some distinct global patterns and trends that will also open opportunities for different communities around the world to connect as a united library field and help tackle the challenges of the future. Your high level of engagement shows a commitment to IFLA’s Global Vision, as co-creators working towards a united library field.

We received submissions from across the library field—from individual librarians of all library types, associations, institutions, library supporters and others. By using your own unique perspectives on how to realise the Global Vision ten opportunities, contributors have given us some truly inspirational ideas for action that highlight our profession’s creativity, diversity and commitment to innovation.

Our in-house team of experts is currently busy analysing all ideas submitted before 31 October in order to present a comprehensive report to the Governing Board in December. The ideas themselves will help inform the new IFLA Strategy and Actions for 2019-2024.

Co-create the future: keep sharing your ideas!

The thousands of ideas comprise a vast body of material that will enable us to engage and co-create with the global library community. This initial compilation of thousands of ideas reflects multiple contexts, in terms of library experience, library types, regions and countries.

We've just begun.  Go on to inspire and get inspired from the Ideas Store and send us your ideas!
Gerald Leitner, IFLA Secretary General

In 2019, we will make the ideas available on the Ideas Store website —creating a unique storehouse of inspirational ideas available to all librarians around the world. But we don’t stop there! We are still seeking your continued input, and everyone is welcome to contribute ideas.  Our platform is translated into and accepts submissions in all seven IFLA languages. Wherever you are, we want to hear your voice!
