IFLA's Senior Policy Advisor, Dr. Stuart Hamilton, will attend the IGF on behalf of IFLA. During his attendance he will blog the experience.

The IGF is essentially a high-level global discussion forum made up of stakeholders from governments, businesses and civil society organisations. It has no power to take decisions but the sheer number of delegates from all across the spectrum of Internet development – including representatives from ICANN who control the Internet’s Domain Name System, decision-makers at Microsoft or Cisco Systems, or representatives from organisations concerned with keeping access to information on the Internet free from censorship, such as IFLA or the Association of Progressive Communications (APC) – make it a meeting with the potential to influence the future of the Internet.
