Celebration marking the 80th anniversary of establishment of the Iran National Library.

The National Library of Iran was established in 1937. The National Library was eventually merged with both the Tehran Book Processing Centre (TEBROC) and the Islamic Revolution Cultural Documentation Organisation (IRCDO) to form the National Library and Documentation Organisation. In 2002 the latter was joined by the National Iranian Archives to make the National Library and Archives of Iran (NLAI). Currently, the organisation functions in two independent buildings: one is the new building of the National Library of Iran (NLI) and the other is the building of the National Archives of Iran (NAI).

IFLA President Gloria Pérez-Salmerón was invited by the Director of the National Library and Archives of Iran, Ashraf Boroujerdi, to take part in the Opening Ceremony of the conference marking the 80th anniversary of establishment of Iran National Library.
