With Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 in focus at the United Nations (UN) this year, there is a key opportunity to draw attention to the importance of access to information.

In preparation both for the High Level Political Forum in July and the SDG Summit in September in the context of the UN General Assembly, the UN and civil society organisations are organising a conference in Rom.

This sets out to review progress on peace, justice and strong institutions, as well as to make recommendations for Member States.

IFLA will be present, highlighting in particular how libraries support democracies and enable people to make full use of open government data.
