Description
The Uganda Library and Information Association (ULIA) is hosting the IFLA AFRICA Section Midterm Meeting and the Twenty-third Standing Conference of Eastern, Central and Southern Africa Library and Information Association (SCECSAL XXIII conference), which will be held on 23-28 April 2018 at the Imperial Resort Beach Hotel, Entebbe, Uganda.
The theme for the conference is: "Positioning Library and Information Services to achieve sustainable development: Innovations and Partnerships".
Plenary Sessions will cover the following themes:
- SDGs and Libraries and Information Services in the SCECSAL Region
- Open Science, Open Data and LIS and SDGs
- Broadening LIS partnerships to Achieve SDGs
IFLA's Manager of Development Programmes, Ingrid Bon will be a panelist on Expert Panel Discussion 2: "Contributions to SDGs in the SCECSAL region: Are LIS institutions and professionals on the right track?" on 27 April. This discussion will reflect on strategies to enhance LIS contributions for the attainment of the UN 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the region.
Maria G. N. Musoke, Chair of IFLA's Health and Biosciences Libraries Section, and Emma Farrow, Secretary, will present a parallel session titled "Education and training needs for health librarianship in the East, Central and Southern Africa (ECSA) region".
