The 2019 High Level Political Forum (HLPF) under the auspices of the United Nations' Economic and Social Council is the key annual meeting on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

IFLA has engaged closely in this work, both promoting the role of libraries and the equitable access to information they provide in delivering strong and fair growth, but also helping libraries themselves to work with and through the SDGs in their own advocacy.

The HLPF is an opportunity to learn about what countries are doing, to highlight how libraries can help, and to build new connections and allies.

IFLA will be co-organising two events, one focusing on information partnerships which support development, working with the UN Dag Hammarskjold Library "Partnering for development – From global to local: the role of knowledge and libraries" (lunchtime on 16 July), and one on following up on the Buenos Aires Declaration together with the Permanent Mission of Argentina to the United Nations (evening of 16 July).
