About the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean
The IFLA Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean was established firstly in Caracas, Venezuela. The IFLA Regional Office for LAC was moved to Brazil in 1990 and its management was entrusted to the leading brazilian librarian, Elizabet María Ramos de Carvalho. She was Manager of the IFLA Regional Office since 1990 to 2011.
The Institute of Research on Library and Information Science of UNAM has the IFLA Regional Office since 2011 in Mexico City and Dr. Jaime Ríos-Ortega, researcher and principal of this UNAM dependence, manages it.
