IFLA’s Middle East and North Africa Regional Division Committee (IFLA MENA RDC) participates with a special session at the Jordan Library Conference.


IFLA’s Middle East and North Africa Regional Division Committee (IFLA MENA RDC) will moderate a special session titled “The Role of Libraries and Knowledge in Sustainable Development” at the Jordan Library Conference.

Dr Saif Aljabri, member of IFLA’s MENA RDC will talk about IFLA, MENA and SDGs. The chair of MENA Dr Imad Bachir will take part virtually in a short talk about the Voluntary National Reviews (VNR) and contribution of libraries in the MENA region.

The conference consists of six sessions including the closing session. The sessions address the sustainable development in relation to knowledge, objectives, the role of international associations, and intellectual property. IFLA’s MENA RDC will moderate a special session about the role of international organizations in promoting and implementing the sustainable development goals and objectives with focus on the role of IFLA. The session will be moderated by IFLA’s MENA RDC member Dr. Younes Alshawabkeh.


Imad Bachir from Lebanon is the Chair of IFLA’s MENA RDC and a Professor in Library and Information Studies at the Lebanese University / Lebanese Library Association.


Dr Saif Aljabri from Oman is a member of IFLA’s MENA RDC and the CEPS Library Director at the Sultan Qaboos University.


Dr. Younes Alshawabkeh from Jordan is a member of IFLA’s MENA RDC and a Professor at the Jordan University.
