We are pleased to announce the result of the IFLA Extraordinary Election for the key post of Chair of the Professional Council.

Chair of the Professional Council:

Te Paea Paringatai, Aotearoa (New Zealand)

The extraordinary election followed the resignation of the previous Chair, Adjoa Boateng, and took place in line with the provisions of IFLA’s Statutes.

The Chair of the Professional Council has an essential leadership role, ensuring the coordination of the work of the Professional Units who are responsible for professional activities, policies and programmes. The Chair is also a member of the Governing Board. Te Paea will begin her term immediately and serve in this role until the end of the General Assembly in August 2023.

Her current role as Chair of Professional Division G will become vacant and elections will be held to fill this position.

My congratulations to Te Paea, and to the other candidate for their strong commitment to IFLA and the work of the professional units in supporting the future of our field.

Acting Secretary General
