SET Seasons Greetings
Dear Colleagues,

Happy New Year 2022!  There is a tradition all over the world to sum up the results of the passing year. We are grateful that 2021 has been pretty successful for the IFLA Education and Training Section (SET) thanks to your support and initiatives. Despite any difficulties because of the COVID-19 pandemic we have had very interesting and inspiring projects which we will definitely continue next year.

As we look back, we would like to highlight a few important events:

  • One of the brightest events for all librarians around the globe was of course IFLA WLIC that gave all of us the opportunity to meet each other (though virtually) and engage in a professional dialogue. We are thankful we had the chance to participate in the WLIC program and present the results of our projects.
  • LIS students are the focus of many SET activities to encourage their future engagement with IFLA and SET. SET in cooperation with IFLA professional units launched a project “A Webinar Series for LIS Students.” We had six webinars with outstanding professionals as keynote speakers, and twenty LIS students from ten countries as presenters. All these webinars were aimed at involving LIS students in the global professional community. They attracted over 1000 registrants and attendees.
  • SET was thrilled to welcome new SC members who will certainly contribute their rich experience in our activities and help SET become more dynamic and innovative.
  • SET won a Dynamic Unit Impact Award (DUIA) Special Mention for “Quality and Impact of the Work.”

We would like to thank all our partners and colleagues who participated in our projects, motivated us and shared ideas. We look forward to continuing our global cooperation with all of you in 2022!

Best wishes from Russia,
