IFLA PressReader International Marketing Award Winners 2022Sponsored by PressReader, the IFLA PressReader International Marketing Award is presented by the IFLA Section on Management and Marketing. In its 19th year, this award honors organizations that implement creative, results-oriented marketing projects or campaigns.

Through the long-standing sponsorship, PressReader recognizes the dedicated librarians and library staff around the world that create inspiring marketing campaigns to reach patrons. Connecting readers to the stories that matter has always been PressReader’s mission, and the continued partnership with IFLA helps the two organizations further connect communities of readers to content from around the world.

This year, winning libraries receive funds towards airfare, lodging and registration to attend the IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Dublin, Ireland in July 2022. The first place will receive €3,000, the second place will receive €2,000 and the third place will receive €1,500.

For 2022, the top winners are:

“We’re ready for the next chapter. Help us write it,” notes first place winner Yarra Libraries for their campaign; a clever mix of digital and print, non-traditional outreach as well as effective user participation.

Peking University Elementary School Library (China) is the second-place winner for their skill-building campaign, “Illuminating Our Library”. Students completed various group activities, which resulted in 800+ themed stories about “Me and My Library.”

Chattanooga Public Library (USA) takes third place for their awareness campaign, “Here We Grow!” This well-executed campaign emphasizes the importance of communicating the wide range of services a modern public library offers.

Submissions were received from all over the world, with entries from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, Egypt, France, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Oman, Poland, Peru, Russia, Spain, Sweden, USA and Zambia. Applications were selected based upon criteria that demonstrated innovative and original project marketing strategies. The top 10 entries include the first, second, and third place winners, as well as seven more unique campaigns.

Headquartered at The Hague, Netherlands, IFLA (The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) is the leading international body representing the interests of library and information services and their users. It is the global voice of the library and information profession, with more than 1,300 members in 140 countries worldwide.

“The award winners have not only reinvented and reimagined their libraries with these campaigns, but they also provide great examples of user participation and thinking outside the box when it comes to library marketing,” says Anya Feltreuter, chair of the IFLA Section on Management and Marketing.

As the world’s largest digital newspaper and magazine platform, PressReader helps IFLA to recognize and support creative, inspiring and results-oriented marketing campaigns. In addition to sponsoring the first, second and third place awards, PressReader is proud to provide the top 10 winners with an exclusive one-year VIP account to its catalog.

“Access to information and quality journalism lives at the heart of everything we do at PressReader. Each year we are inspired by the innovative marketing campaigns brought forward by libraries around the world to connect patrons,” notes PressReader’s Senior Area Manager EMEA, James Fairbotham. “We’re proud to participate, knowing our contribution helps readers around the world discover trusted journalism, and media literacy to separate fact from fiction. Congratulations again to the winning libraries!”

Along with the top three winners, the next seven organizations and their marketing campaigns are recognized for their innovative and creative approaches to marketing (in alphabetical order):

Also, the Award Jury recognized five special mentions. Although these campaigns did not place in top 10, the Jury was very impressed and chose to highlight them as examples of great library marketing.
