The right laws for preserving our past: exploring the new WIPO Toolkit on Preservation
Join IFLA, ICA, and ICOM as we explore the new WIPO Toolkit on Preservation.
The Toolkit on Preservation, drafted at the request of IFLA, ICA, and ICOM by the WIPO Secretariat, provides a roadmap for laws that allow libraries, archives, and museum professionals to preserve our cultural heritage in today’s world. As climate change, human conflict, and technological obsolescence continue to threaten our collections, it is increasingly urgent for copyright laws to support – rather than hinder – the copying needed to safeguard our cultural heritage. The Toolkit helps both to evaluate your current copyright laws, and explore what options there could be in future reform to achieve this goal.
Join IFLA, ICA, and ICOM along with the authors of the Preservation Toolkit, Rina Pantalony, Kenny Crews, and David Sutton as we share insights into the Toolkit on Preservation on July 18, 2024 at 1500 UTC. There will be time for questions from the participants.
Please register in advance for the webinar at this link. This webinar will be recorded and shared on the IFLA YouTube channel.
