The UNESCO MIL Cities paradigm and the 2030 Agenda: metrics for the cities of the future
Join this session at the 11th World Urban Forum to find out about how and why media and information literacy matters so much for sustainable urban development.
Organised by UNESCO with IFLA contributions, the main objective of this panel is to present the UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Cities (MIL Cities) paradigm, as well as to promote reflection on how this can contribute to wider policy agendas.
It will include case-studies of urban spaces, neighborhoods and cities that have adopted UNESCO’s MIL Ciites framework, as well as explanation of the steps followed in this process around the world in Africa. Latin America and the Caribbean.
IFLA will speak, in order to highlight how library experience confirms the relevance of promoting MIL at the local level, and the crucial role of libraries themselves in achieving this.
