The Secretariat of the 1954 Hague Convention is launching the consultation process on the elaboration of a reflection document on the monitoring and supervision of the 1999 Second Protocol.

In order to help inform this process, stakeholders from around the world have been invited to participate in the Virtual Expert Meeting on Cultural Property Protection: Monitoring and supervision of the implementation of the 1999 Second Protocol, taking place on 3 and 4 May 2021.

This meeting will help support global reflection on developing general principles and scope of the monitoring and supervision processes that could be established under the 1999 Second Protocol. It will bring together independent experts, representatives of key advisory organisations, and other partners of UNESCO.

IFLA is looking forward to participating in this meeting to help encourage synergy across all types of memory institutions, and with all other cultural property protection stakeholders, to help strengthen the protection of cultural heritage, including libraries and the collections they hold.
