The IFLA Asia Oceania Division and Asia Oceania Regional Office is delighted to present the Information Integrity: The case of Asia and Oceania, scheduled on 28 September 2024, 2pm – 3.30pm AEST at The Studio in the State Library Queensland. This session will also be in hybrid format.

In this era of abundant access to knowledge and information, it is critical that there should also be a growing awareness in the power that these knowledge and information bring. On this front, the United Nations have taken a proactive stance with the unveiling of the UN Global Principles for Information Integrity in June 2024. These principles aim to tackle issues such as misinformation, disinformation, hate speech and the protection of individuals and communities from harmful content.

Libraries, as guardians of knowledge, have always been dedicated to ensuring users have access to reliable information and are equipped with the skills to evaluate and use it effectively. With their deep connections to communities, libraries have the experience and influence needed to play a crucial role in spreading and advancing this cause.

We are delighted to present this webinar together with our distinguished panel of speakers who will:

  • Demonstrate the involvement of libraries in promoting information integrity and literacy;
  • Discuss the unique challenges of information integrity and illustrate the implementation of these measures in their respective countries.
