The 4th Culture Summit organised by United Cities and Local Governments takes place in Izmir, Turkey, on 9-11 September 2021. It provides an opportunity for local and regional governments and cultural stakeholders to talk about effective culture policies, and how to ensure they are making a full contribution to development.

This year’s edition will have a particular focus on the role of culture in the recovery from COVID-19, as well as looking ahead to how cultural policies at the local level can contribute to climate action and the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

IFLA will be represented by Secretary General Gerald Leitner, who will participate in sessions focused on the place of culture in Voluntary Local Reviews, as well as on the Culture2030Goal campaign of which IFLA is a member.
