Projects
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Ensure librarians in North America have the advocacy skills needed to demonstrate how libraries contribute to city, state and local governments efforts to achieve progress on the SDGs. Our goal is to deliver webinars that will help libraries share stories about how we support the SDGs.
Global Advocacy with a focus on Copyright
Connect with library associations in North America working on copyright issues to learn what’s needed for support, with the intent to collect copyright impact stories from the United States and Canada that support raising awareness of library issues among copyright policy makers and politicians.
Regional Advocacy with a focus on Digital Inclusion
Perform a 360-degree review of North American initiatives related to digital inclusion, facilitate webinars that feature libraries’ efforts, and develop recommendations of best practices and advocacy actions.
Expand IFLA membership and build awareness across North America
Develop a white paper and deliver a webinar series to promote all the benefits of IFLA membership, encouraging library workers to join IFLA and participate in our global library community.
Enrich the IFLA Library Map of the World (LMW) with content from across North America
Ensure information about the library environment and statistics for the United States and Canada are available through Library Map of the World, and establish ongoing responsibilities as needed.
Support increasing racial and ethnic diversity in librarianship
Bring attention to need to increase racial and ethnic diversity in librarianship in region, including improving credential recognition for MLIS graduates from outside North America.
