During my term on IFLA Governing Board 2011-2013, I have supported IFLA’s goals and especially its Key Initiatives (KI) :

  • KI One (digital content) As Chair of the Repository Working Group, I steered the selection process for a system that will be put in place for the IFLA WLIC 2013 papers and beyond.
  • KI Four (cultural heritage) As part of the Cultural Heritage Advisory Group and Chair of the Advisory Board for the Preservation and Conservation Core Activity, I have worked on the IFLA Principles of engagement for library-related activities in times of conflict, crisis or disaster, endorsed in April 2012.
  • KI Five (multilingualism) Within the Multilingualism Working Group I have helped select and prepare IFLA’s new multilingual platform.

I am a GB representative on the Professional Committee, and have worked among other areas on the clarification of our strategy for funding projects and activities.

It has been a privilege to serve on the GB over two years of significant change and I am seeking re-election to continue this commitment to IFLA members. If re-elected, I will work to ensure the continuing development of the repository and the extension of multilingualism on the IFLA site and in the WLIC.

Recent events both political and climate related underline the need for ever increased coordination in risk areas: following on the guidelines, I will work with relevant parties to develop the risk register and reinforce cooperation across cultural heritage sectors.

With the experience gained from my first term, I will continue to work actively with IFLA HQ, GB and PC colleagues, and the membership at large to ensure that the Sections and IFLA members are strongly supported within the current and future new key initiatives and activities.
