Congo Creates Library Association Following BSLA Workshop in French-Speaking Africa

Our latest BSLA workshop brought together library leaders from French-speaking Africa, teaching them innovative skills and practices, and enabling them to take an active part in advocacy for the development of libraries in their country. The workshop outcomes were stronger library associations across the French-speaking countries of Africa, as well as a new national library association in Congo.

Building Strong Library Associations Programme successfully completes current round of activities

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Global Libraries Initiative partnered with IFLA to support the Building Strong Library Associations programme over three years from 2013-2016. At the conclusion of this grant in August 2016, the programme has achieved or exceeded its objectives. The programme will continue in 2017.

Second BSLA workshop held in Francophone Africa

The IFLA Building Strong Library Associations Programme (BSLA) supports projects in Africa, Asia and Oceania, and Latin America and the Caribbean. BSLA offers a strategic and coordinated approach to capacity building and sustainability of library associations and provides training modules to assist in developing the library and information profession, improving library services and building strategic partnerships and advocacy skills.

April workshop, seminar and midterm meetings in Panama culminate in a Letter of Intent from LAC library associations

BSLA regional workshop for Francophone Countries in Africa

As part of the IFLA Building Strong Library Associations programme (BSLA), the Association of Librarians, Archivist, Documentalists and Museum Curators of Cameroon (ABADCAM) organized a three day workshop from 2 – 4 December 2015 for leaders of library associations from across Francophone Africa.
